| OCLC為Online
Computer Library Center之簡稱，其所建立及維護的書目資料庫是目前全球最大的書目資料庫，所含括之書目記錄包括各種語文及各種類型資料。OCLC除提供線上服務外，更將其書目資料庫內查尋頻率較高之書目記錄製成光碟資料庫發行，供各類型圖書館分享其編目資源。 OCLC CatCD 之 Windows 版已於1996年中發行，同時終止DOS版OCLC Cat CD450之生產。OCLC並藉由此次Windows版之開發，除將OCLC原有光碟資料庫產品（包括The Recent Books Cataloging Collection、The Older Books Cataloging Collection、The Musical Cataloging Collection、The Law Cataloging Collection、The LC Authorities Collection）改為Windows 版外，亦同時推出The Pre-1900 Books Cataloging Collection、The Serials Cataloging Collection、The Medical Cataloging Collection、The Visual Materials 7 Computer Files Cataloging Collection、The Hispanic Cataloging Collection等五種新的光碟資料庫。 相較於DOS版，OCLC Windows 版之光碟資料庫檢索系統至少增加了以下七種特點︰(1)收錄Library of Congress所有書目資料，故資料量比BiblioFile完整﹔(2)同時可檢索OCLC全部光碟片﹔(3)提供二十一項的檢索點﹔(4)採視窗方式顯現，使用上更具親和性﹔(5)提供DOS版檔案轉成Windows版可讀之local file的功能﹔(6)相同檢索軟體，使用在OCLC更多的光碟產品中﹔(7)線上輔助說明更詳細。 目前最被廣為使用之OCLC光碟資料庫產品仍以The Recent Books Cataloging Collection及The Older Books Cataloging Collection 為主。 前者收錄1991年起出版之資料，約 155萬筆書目記錄，共兩片光碟片，每季更新；後者收錄1900年至1990年出版之資料，約 175萬筆書目記錄，共兩片光碟片，亦採每季更新。二者並囊括國會圖書館所有書目記錄。OCLC CatCD for Windows除了可進行書目查檢、編輯、複製、原始編目、抄錄編目、書目記錄之轉入、轉出、印製卡片、書標、統計報表……等工作，還可限定資料類型、結合布林邏輯及串截（Truncate）功能、進行全文查檢、建立個別圖書館的書目資料庫（Local File）。因此，OCLC CatCD for Windows 提供了離線分享OCLC書目資源的途徑，亦可兼作小型圖書館自動化編目系統使用。
